The Founder
About JoAnne Kao
Founder, Dragonfly CrossingIt was created to offer something increasingly rare:
A sanctuary to write what remains.
JoAnne is not a therapist, grief counselor, or coach. She does not offer advice, interpretation, or analysis. Her role is simply to hold the space—with care, dignity, and respect.
Here, writing becomes an offering of peace, compassion, and hope. A quiet act of remembrance.

The Origin of Dragonfly Crossing
The work is intentionally simple: to sit, to breathe, and to write.
The Philosophy
A Non-Theraputic Presence
Some questions ask to be met slowly, over time.
Dragonfly Crossing was created for that pace.
It offers a quiet place where love, absence, and presence are allowed to coexist—without needing explanation, resolution, or reply.
A space to write the words carried but never spoken.
A Philosophy of Quiet Presence
JoAnne’s approach is shaped, in part, by East Asian traditions that honor impermanence and quiet acts of offering. In many of these traditions, those we love continue to have a place in everyday life—not only through words, but through quiet gestures of care, moments of reflection, and simple acts of devotion.
Dragonfly Crossing reflects that sensibility.: Minimal. Intentional. Quiet.
Deeply respectful.
It does not ask participants to move on. It simply offers a place to be with what remains.
A space where love is held, as we consider how love continues, even as life changes.

An Invitation
Whether your loss is recent or decades old, visible or unnamed, you are welcome. This is a place to write what was never said:
A place to honor what continues.
A place where silence is not emptiness, but presence.
A place where love is allowed to continue.
Because when we love deeply, we love forever.
